Murky Details & the Las Vegas Massacre

The Jewish Voice - - EDITORIAL -

The Las Vegas massacre unfolded on October 1st. Th t's nearly a month ago and already it's slipping away into one of the many sink holes of investigations, screwups and to most of us, cover-ups that have blemished the reputations of our federal law enforcement agencies. Just how many more confli ting chains of events, witness accounts and theories must we deal with before we come to the conclusion that this horror will eventually join with the many others that have left us wondering just who and what causes and groups were actually behind these incidents. We are puzzled by the obvious ineptitude of a combination of law enforcement groups who seem to be getting nowhere in solving this latest crime. We must ask, "Do they really want to solve the crime?"

Take into account the President Kennedy assassination of well over 52 years ago. If it was really Lee Harvey Oswald as we were originally told, did he have any support groups? How about accomplices? What motive did he have? Why did so many people mysteriously die who were involved in the case? We have been promised that the report that has been worked over, changed, items redacted and theories thrown into the pot for these many years will be released within days. And how many know who Sirhan Sirhan is? He's the Palestinian who assassinated JFK's brother Robert in 1968. Th t investigation also went nowhere; with the convicted killer still serving a life sentence in some prison. He was arrested, went to trial and that was that. The investigations of both of these deaths went nowhere. Th t began the nation's disillusionment and disbelief of any "fact-fi ding" reports issued after the fact. We tend to call them "lies."

Since 9/11 we've seen a rash of apparent Islamist attacks leveled against this country on our home turf. After the World Trade Tower attacks, then President George W. Bush picked a panel to begin the investigation to uncover who was behind the bombing. The e were protests that Henry Kissinger, himself an international diplomat with many secrets of his own was appointed as the commission's fi st chair. Former FBI Director Louis Freeh complained about the problematic backgrounds and biases of other panelists assigned to the case. In short, we know nothing more now about the planners and support groups of the 9/11 terrorists than we did 16 years ago.

Just what were the outcomes of the fact findi g probes into such horrors as the Boston Marathon Bombing, the San Bernardino shootings, the Orlando gay nightclub massacre, the Shoe Bomber Plot, the Dallas Police slaughter, the Oklahoma City bombing, the LA Airport shootings, the Beltway Sniper attacks? Not much. Politics, fear of hurting religious feelings and the threat of racial rioting prevents law enforcement not only from deeply investigating such happenings, but stand in the way of making public such facts garnered. So, when other attacks on our communities occur, don't expect any sincere efforts by law enforcement to give us their eventual findi gs. This info would have to be fi tered, screened, specifics altered, fake elements entered and the end results will be hard to digest and believed by the public. Don't blame the sceptics. Blame the politicians.
