Dennis Basso: Fall Fashion

The Jewish Voice - - SPECIAL FEATURES - By Julie Sagoskin

The king of fur and fabulous gowns, Dennis Basso, showed off his spring collection on Monday, September 11th at the Plaza Hotel's grand ballroom during the most exciting time of the year – Fashion Week!

From romantic fl wing gowns to edgy fur vests, the show was defi nitely an ode to what Dennis does best – glamour! The looks which were matched with David Webb jewelry showed off Dennis' international fl ir for the modern yet sophisticated woman. After over three decades, D in the fashion world, he has found the perfect balance of fun and fashion forwardness.

The designer's latest collection celebrated the 35th anniversary of Dennis Basso in fashion. Basso said his “inspiration for this show was the international woman who has traveled the world to exotic and interesting locales. Over the 35 years, I’ve met so many spectacular, strong and glamorous women. As this collection was designed, I reflected on this amazing journey and I hope that I can transport you with me.”

The color palette of the show consisted of warm spice and vibrant tones in rust, khaki, cayenne, violet and aqua mixed with earthy neutrals in vanilla and sand. Silk chiffons, georgette, and tulle were ruffle in glittering, and billowing silhouettes while dresses were hand embroidered in delicate mosaics. No Dennis Basso show would be complete without weightless furs in mink, sable, fox, lynx and broadtail and of course some alligator and sequins.

Amelia Hamlin, daughter of actress and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna and husband Harry Hamlin made her New York Fashion Week debut at the show as her proud parents watched from the front row. Other stars who attended include Rachel Lindsay, Kimiko Glenn, Carol Alt, Betty Who, Rachel Bay Jones, Laura Osnes, Dee Hilfi er, Marigay McKee, Ramona Singer, Kelly Bensimon, Tina Craig, Alexia Ryan, Dana Creel, Louise Camuto, and Christine Mack. Ivana Trump was also spotted wearing a cheetah coat but made it very clear she was there for fashion, not to discuss her ex, President Donald Trump.

From fur lined jackets to full on fur coats and fur trimmed dresses, this collection will have you prepared for those chilly fall nights while the jeweled gowns bring glamour back for the modern woman. Flowing lines and exotic print tunics and shirts are also part of Dennis' international womenswear collection.

As always, the Basso collection exudes excess and why not - it is a celebration of his decades in the industry. The Game of Th ones soundtrack which played as the models made their way down the runway was defin tely intended to pull in a younger audience, aka social media influencers and the next generation of fashionistas.
