William Paca Memorial set for July 4
QUEENSTOWN — The Queen Anne’s County Historical Society and the Aspen Institute invite the public to this year’s William Paca Memorial. This years speaker will be Dr. Robert Chiles, professor and lecturer, department of History, University of Maryland, College Park. His talk is entitled, “The Enduring Vision of the Founding Generation.”
Join in this annual patriotic event celebrating and remembering the life of founding father William Paca. This special garden ceremony is held 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, at the historic Aspen Institute-Wye Plantation in Queenstown.
The Historical Society is joined ever y year by the Sons and The Daughters of the American Revolution. Boy Scout Troop will present the Procession of the Colors and a selection of patriotic songs will be played by the Chesapeake Bay Community Band. Pastor Dane Rada of the Wye Mills United Methodist Church will give the blessing and benediction, while his wife, Kristi Rada, will sing the national anthem.
This is free event offered to the community. Refreshments will be served.
