STEVENSVILLE — Eve­lyn “Evie” Innes Downie of Stevensville, MD, died Satur­day, June 24, 2017, at her home, sur­rounded by her lov­ing fam­ily.

She was born Sept. 11, 1928, in

Youngstown, Ohio, a daugh­ter of the late James and Sarah (Wil­son) Downie. Evie grad­u­ated from Board­man High School, Board­man, Ohio, and then at­tended Youngstown State Univer­sity where she re­ceived her teach­ing de­gree. She taught for 35 years at Austin­town Mid­dle School. Evie re­tired from teach­ing at 57 years old.

Evie is sur­vived by her two sis­ters: Mar­guerite “Peg” Can­non; Sarah “Salle” Wal­lace; ex­tended lov­ing fam­ily and her dog, Scooby. She was pre­ceded in death by her broth­ers: Wil­liam Downie and James Downie.

Evie lived in Stevensville with her two sis­ters, Peg, Salle, and her dog Scooby. They were known as the Golden Girls! Evie moved to Mary­land in 1996 to live with her sister Peg, after Peg’s husband, James Can­non passed away.

Evie en­joyed world­wide trav­el­ing, happy hour in the hanger with the Kent­morr neigh­bors and friends, read­ing, va­ca­tion­ing with fam­ily and spend­ing time with fam­ily and friends.

A visi­ta­tion will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Satur­day, July 1, at Davis– Becker Fu­neral Homes, 8536 Mar­ket St., Board­man, Ohio. A grave­side ser­vice will fol­low the visi­ta­tion in For­est Lawn Me­mo­rial Park in Youngstown, Ohio. There will be a cel­e­bra­tion of her life in Stevensville at a later date.
