Se­nior Expo set Fri­day at col­lege

WYE MILLS — The 2018 Se­nior Expo, pre­sented by The Star Demo­crat and spon­sored by Re­gent Health­care, Univer­sity of Mary­land Shore Re­gional Health and AARP Mary­land will take place on from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fri­day, March 23. The expo will be held in the Health Pro­fes­sions and Ath­letic Cen­ter build­ing at Ch­e­sa­peake Col­lege, lo­cated at 1000 Col­lege Cir­cle, Wye Mills. The Se­nior Expo is free and open to the pub­lic.

The expo will show­case 50+ ven­dors who rep­re­sent the full gamut of re­sources avail­able to our se­nior com­mu­nity, rang­ing from life­style and well­ness to fi­nan­cial, le­gal, and med­i­cal re­sources, as well as many oth­ers.

“This event is a live ex­ten­sion of The Se­nior Re­source Guide, an an­nual di­rec­tory pub­lished in co­or­di­na­tion with the county of­fices of ag­ing and Mary­land Ac­cess Point (MAP) of­fices,” said Betsy Grif­fin, Se­nior Expo di­rec­tor. “At­ten­dees will have the op­por­tu­nity to have face time with each ven­dor to ask per­son­al­ized ques­tions to the ex­perts fea­tured in the re­source guide.”

With an im­pres­sive line-up of speak­ers sched­uled for break-out ses­sions, guests of the Se­nior Expo will hear in­trigu­ing talks on highly rel­e­vant top­ics, in­clud­ing pal­lia­tive care, how to main­tain a fit brain, an overview of ag­ing in the home place, ex­plor­ing al­ter­na­tive sources to fund­ing re­tire­ment, how to spot and stop fraud, and how to cus­tom­ize a fu­neral to best fit the in­di­vid­ual. Th­ese break-out ses­sions will fea­ture doc­tors and pro­fes­sion­als from Shore Re­gional Health, Johns Hop­kins Univer­sity, Re­gent Health­care, Goss As­so­ciates, AARP of Mary­land, and Fellows, Helfen­bein & New­nam Fu­neral Home, re­spec­tively.

Com­pli­men­tary hear­ing tests will be avail­able on site. Vis­it­ing Nurses As­so­ci­a­tion is pro­vid­ing a free and healthy con­ti­nen­tal break­fast of bagels, dan­ishes, fresh whole fruit, cof­fee, tea, and or­ange juice from 10 to 11 a.m. Pre-reg­is­tra­tion is rec­om­mended.
