Senior Expo set Friday at college
WYE MILLS — The 2018 Senior Expo, presented by The Star Democrat and sponsored by Regent Healthcare, University of Maryland Shore Regional Health and AARP Maryland will take place on from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, March 23. The expo will be held in the Health Professions and Athletic Center building at Chesapeake College, located at 1000 College Circle, Wye Mills. The Senior Expo is free and open to the public.
The expo will showcase 50+ vendors who represent the full gamut of resources available to our senior community, ranging from lifestyle and wellness to financial, legal, and medical resources, as well as many others.
“This event is a live extension of The Senior Resource Guide, an annual directory published in coordination with the county offices of aging and Maryland Access Point (MAP) offices,” said Betsy Griffin, Senior Expo director. “Attendees will have the opportunity to have face time with each vendor to ask personalized questions to the experts featured in the resource guide.”
With an impressive line-up of speakers scheduled for break-out sessions, guests of the Senior Expo will hear intriguing talks on highly relevant topics, including palliative care, how to maintain a fit brain, an overview of aging in the home place, exploring alternative sources to funding retirement, how to spot and stop fraud, and how to customize a funeral to best fit the individual. These break-out sessions will feature doctors and professionals from Shore Regional Health, Johns Hopkins University, Regent Healthcare, Goss Associates, AARP of Maryland, and Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, respectively.
Complimentary hearing tests will be available on site. Visiting Nurses Association is providing a free and healthy continental breakfast of bagels, danishes, fresh whole fruit, coffee, tea, and orange juice from 10 to 11 a.m. Pre-registration is recommended. Space will fill quickly. Contact Faith Asbury at 410-770-4066 or email@example.com.
