Book scholarship offered to graduating seniors
CENTREVILLE — Applications are now being accepted for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Committee’s 2018 Book Scholarship.
The deadline to submit a completed application is April 15.
Scholarship applicants must be a graduating senior from Queen Anne’s County School or Kent Island High School. Scholarships are awarded based on need and how well applicants meet the submission guidelines.
Eligibility requirements include: the student must be an African-American male or female who plans to enter college the upcoming semester; holds a grade point average of C-plus or better; and the funds will be used for textbooks and school supplies.
An interview may be requested by the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee.
Applications and guidelines are available in the Guidance Office of each school or can be obtained by contacting the committee at mlkcelebrationteam@ gmail.com. Completed applications should be mailed to Kia Reed, chairperson, at P.O. Box 524, Centreville, Md., 21617.
