EASTON — On the first evening of Pre-Service Training for CASA of the Mid-Shore, Talbot County Circuit Court Magistrate Jamie Adkins, Dorchester County Circuit Court Magistrate Daryl Walters, and Queen Anne’s County Circuit Court Magistrate Jean Meta praised the value of this local CASA program to the newest class of prospective Court Appointed Special Advocates Volunteers. The Magistrates explained that they rely on the written reports and recommendations from CASA volunteers as to what their appointed children need, and they emphasized the many positive outcomes for children when CASA is by their side.

Robin Davenport, CASA’s executive director, thanked the Magistrates for their participation in the training class, stating, “Local children benefit from the skilled and thoughtful approach that our magistrates take in these important cases. CASA volunteers help our courts determine what services will help children heal from maltreatment, and we provide important information that helps improve outcomes for the children. For many children who are under court protection, their CASA volunteer may be the only constant during a frightening and uncertain time.”

After completing in-depth Pre-Ser vice Training, CASA of the Mid-Shore’s newest volunteers will be sworn in as officers of the Circuit Courts for Talbot, Dorchester, Queen Anne’s and Kent counties.
