Area events July 13-16 Book Bo­nanza: The Friends of Berks County Pub­lic Li­braries will host their an­nual Book Bo­nanza event on July 13-16 at the VF Out­let Cen­ter, Third Floor Red build­ing. Due to ren­o­va­tions, this will be the fi­nal year Book Bo­nanza will call the VF Out­lets home. Book Bo­nanza is an an­nual fundraiser co-spon­sored by the Friends of Berks County Pub­lic Li­braries and the Amer­i­can As­so­ci­a­tion of Univer­sity Women Read­ing branch. The or­ga­ni­za­tion

is a vol­un­teer, non-profit as­so­ci­a­tion ded­i­cated to sup­port­ing all of the 23 pub­lic li­braries in the Berks County Li­brary Sys­tem. More than 100,000 books fill four large rooms to an over­flow­ing ca­pac­ity. All books in the main col­lec­tion are priced no higher than $2. Vis­i­tors can even delve into the col­lec­tors’ sec­tion which con­tains signed au­thor copies and first edi­tions. Th­ese books of lo­cal in­ter­est, col­lectibles, and vin­tage books are priced as marked. The sched­ule is Thurs­day, July 13, 2- 6 p.m. – Open­ing Day and $10 Early Bird Ac­cess; Fri­day, July 14, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Satur­day, July 15, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sun­day, July 16, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. – $5 Bag of Books Sale. We wel­come all ages to our new space down­town for an hour of pic­ture book sto­ry­telling, per­fect for young book lovers and their fam­i­lies. This week lo­cal au­thor Kevin McCloskey, will be fea­tured. His toon books have been rec­og­nized by The New York Times, Pub­lisher’s Weekly, and Book­list. Kevin’s books fea­ture an­i­mals such as worms, fish, and pi­geons, and have been praised as both fun and ed­u­ca­tional. July 18 to 22 Car­ni­val: The Fleet­wood Com­mu­nity Car­ni­val will be run­ning at the Fleet­wood Com­mu­nity Park on Park Road in Fleet­wood July 1822. Rides – Food – Mid­way – En­ter­tain­ment. Tues­day: The Ma­jes­tics (coun­try from the 50s to the 90s and Ride all night for one price. Wed­nes­day: Jeff Krick (Oldies Set & Elvis Con­cert Trib­ute) and Ride all night for one price. Thurs­day: “Erich Cawalla’s Uptown Band” (Jazz, Rock, Funk, R&B) and Ride all night for one price. Fri­day: The New In­di­vid­u­als (Va­ri­ety & Oldies). The Blood Bank will also be on lo­ca­tion and Fire­works. Satur­day: Rub­ber Duck Re­gatta – 6 p.m., Flamin Dick and the Hot Rods and rain date for Fire­works.
