Bail set for man ac­cused of at­tack­ing two peo­ple with a wrench

Bail was set at $10,000 for a Kahu­lui man who was ar­rested for al­legedly as­sault­ing two peo­ple with a wrench when he went to a co­worker’s apart­ment Tues­day night.

Maika Oloaga, 33, is charged with two counts of sec­ond-de­gree as­sault.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, Oloaga went to the co-worker’s apart­ment at Har­bor Lights Con­do­minium in Kahu­lui shortly be­fore 10 p.m. Tues­day to con­front the co-worker. A heated ar­gu­ment turned phys­i­cal when Oloaga be­gan punch­ing and kick­ing the other man in his head, arm and legs, then struck him mul­ti­ple times with a metal wrench, po­lice said.

A woman was struck in the hand with the wrench when she tried to stop Oloaga from hit­ting the other man, po­lice said. Oloaga slammed the woman against the wall when he turned to run out of the apart­ment, po­lice said.

She suf­fered in­juries in­clud­ing pain and swelling to the back of her head, left knee and right el­bow.

The man suf­fered pain and lac­er­a­tions to his fore­head, left arm and shins, ac­cord­ing to po­lice.

Oloaga was ar­rested at about 11:30 p.m. Tues­day, ac­cord­ing to po­lice.
