Maui Economic Opportunity bus wash blessed
A Maui Economic Opportunity bus gets washed during a blessing ceremony last month at the agency’s transportation facility. The $1.3 million bus wash was completed March 20. Now, it takes two to three minutes to wash a bus. The new equipment saves time and makes maintenance easier for MEO’s fleet of 106 buses, according to Debbie Cabebe, the agency’s chief executive officer. Funding for the bus wash came from Maui County, $750,000; the state, $500,000; and MEO fundraising, $87,000, she said. Also blessed last month was a $675,000, diesel-powered generator funded by the state. The generator can put out 600 kilowatts.
