Public hearing set for mayor’s budget
The Maui County Council will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Council Chambers for input on Mayor Alan Arakawa’s proposed fiscal 2019 budget.
Arakawa has proposed an $820 million budget, with $605 million for the operating budget and a capital program budget of $214.9 million.
The full council has until June 10 to take action on the
budget; otherwise the mayor’s proposed budget becomes law. The budget goes into effect July 1.
The hearing will be on the eighth floor of the Kalana O Maui building at 200 S. High St. in Wailuku.
The proposed budget may be examined during regular business hours in the Office of the County Clerk on the county building’s seventh floor. It also may be reviewed at public libraries and at the Hana, Lanai and Molokai council district offices. It can be found at www.mauicounty.gov/1896/Budget-Documents-Ordinances.
