Bears beat Sabers, go to 10-1
The Baldwin High School baseball team walked off with a 11-1, six-inning, mercy-rule win over Maui High on Monday night at Maehara Stadium in the make-up of a game postponed three times by rain earlier this month.
The Bears (10-1) banged out 12 hits to support three pitchers on the mound — Cody Constantino started and allowed just one hit in four innings to pick up the win.
Baldwin, currently ranked No. 18 in the country by USA Today, wrapped up the Maui Interscholastic League Division I regular-season title by taking two of three from second-place Kamehameha Maui last week. The Bears have outscored league opponents 83-7 this season.
The Sabers (5-6) are locked into the third seed for the MIL Tournament next week, the same spot where they began their run to the state title last year.
