Essential for youths to make a change in society

The Maui News - - OPINION -

I would like to express my appreciation for the April 5 editorial, “Don’t Forget to Register.” Myself, being a high-school student and a part of this new rising generation, believe it is essential for my peers to make a change in society. Voting may seem like not a big deal, but there are so many changes that we can make. We simply do not realize that or tend to forget.

Reading the editorial especially caught my attention with the mention of Trump since there is so much controversy about him. A lot of students nowadays are unaware how easy it is to register to vote, including me.

As mentioned in the editorial, New York state makes it difficult for first-time voters to register. Hawaii residents have no excuse and everyone should use it to their advantage. Although we are a small state, it is important to keep in mind we still are the people of America.
