Wife doesn’t think candidate can win

The Maui News - - OPINION -

My wife thinks I have no chance to become mayor. Like many daring husbands, I plan to prove her wrong. I don’t know what the Las Vegas odds are.

My wife stands on some solid reasons. We’ve only had two haole mayors (I’m haole) since statehood and I’m a political outsider. Yet, 697 voters must have thought I had a chance to win in the last election as they cast their ballot for me. Perhaps they want a change as they are sick and tired of politics as usual.

I’m hoping to create the ideal society of the future (see mauitopia.org) and show my wife that I can be right once in a blue moon.
