After-school sports play role in test scores

What the pundits and analysts seem to miss in the continued low scores of our students, especially our high school students, is the fierce competitio­n that sports plays on their time. Students have a choice of an after-school activity of or hitting the books themselves. It isn’t surprising that of the 100 students who have access to my time (I am a tutor), about one a day choose to do math.
