Cal hoops adds Texas point guard to program

Cal men’s basketball’s signed four- star prospect Darius McNeill, head coach Wyking Jones announced. becoming the latest addition to the Bears backcourt.

McNeill, a 6- 3 point guard from Westfield HighHouston, will be eligible to play immediately. He’s ranked a four- star recruit by ESPN.com and a threestar prospect by Scout, Rivals and 247sports.

Coach Jill Ellis called up 23 players — several with Bay Area ties — to the women’s U.S. national roster for next week’s Tournament of Nations. Bay Area players are: goalie: Jane Campbell, Stanford; defenders: Abby Dahlkemper, Menlo Park; Julie Ertz, Santa Clara University; and Kelley O’Hara, Stanford; forwards: Alex Morgan, Cal; Christen Press, Stanford.

Also, Santa Clara’s Sofia Huerta will train with the U.S. team for the entire tournament. The U.S. opens with Australia in Seattle on Thursday.
