Be patient with how new park bond money is used

The Mercury News Weekend - - OPINION -

Charles Shoemaker (Letters, Sept. 14) is wrong about the 2006 parks bond money mismanagement. It takes time to build new parks. Don’t conflate money for existing parks with money for new parks. We need new money to keep up and develop existing parks, such as Coast Dairies in Santa Cruz, where beaches are inaccessible because needed stairs are not built. My wife refuses to go with me to my favorite beach there because the path is too steep and dangerous. I can’t say I blame her. — Robert Wahler, San Jose
