Franken’s apologies do not excuse his behavior

The Mercury News Weekend - - OPINION -

Sen. Al Franken has been accused twice of sexual harassment by two different women. It is devastating to hear that women are being touched inappropriately without given consent. Recently lots of women, and men, have spoken up about being sexually harassed by famous and powerful people.

Franken is a powerful individual and might believe that he can get away with anything. However, that does not give him the right to touch someone’s breasts or rear without the proper consent. Even though he has apologized to both women, they will still live their lives remembering that Al Franken harassed them. If someone is asleep or if they do not say anything at all, that does not mean yes.
