Meriwest Credit Union, one of the largest and most established credit unions serving Silicon Valley, had a good year meeting the needs of our community, with recognition from several area organizations.

In January, Meriwest received the 2020 Rainbow Impact Award for Business of the Year by the Rainbow Chamber, Silicon Valley. The Impact Award is given to individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions throughout their community.

Meriwest also received Certificates of Appreciation from the State

Treasurer Fiona Ma; County of Santa Clara Board of Supervisor Dave Cortese; State Legislator Ash Kalra and City of San Jose Councilmember, Pam Foley.

Meriwest COO, Lisa Pesta said, “This award is a testament to the commitment and dedication of our employees who work tirelessly to serve residents within our communities. We are honored to receive this award and certificates of appreciation.”

In February, Meriwest received the 2020 Cupertino Bridge Award for Outstanding Business of the Year from the Cupertino Chamber of

Commerce. The Bridge Award is given annually to recognize those individuals and organizations that have helped build trust, respect, and dialogue within Cupertino’s multi-ethnic and multi-cultural business community. According to the Chamber, Meriwest Credit Union and its staff truly exemplified the Chamber’s core values of “conveying respect and praise combined with an adventurous and entrepreneurial spirit” in their active service to our community.

Meriwest COO, Lisa Pesta said, “We are honored to receive this

award and will use this as incentive to continue building bridges within Cupertino and the surrounding Silicon Valley communities. This award reflects our commitment and dedication to support local small business owners and community residents.”

And our work in the area continues, in July, Meriwest partnered with the City of Cupertino to help City residents stay in their homes. Low interest loans are being made available to Low and Median Income Residents in the City of Cupertino to make past due or current rental payments.

In April, Meriwest was recognized by the San Francisco Business Times and the Silicon Valley Business Journal as a ‘Best Place to Work’ company in 2020. Winning organizations were honored for creating exceptional workplaces that their employees value highly.

CEO, Julie Kirsch congratulated employees. “The biggest factor in making Meriwest a Best Place to Work isn’t necessarily a specific program or process. It is YOU! It is in the culture, philosophy, and attitude within our organization that is driven by our core values. When those factors play a part in daily decisions, the end result is a culture that deeply respects and cares for each other. Thank you for all the things you do, big or small, to help us achieve this distinguished honor.”
