When it comes to bicycles, try emulating Amsterdam
Thank you Scott Herhold and the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition for promotion of bike improvements in our area (“Reason why people don’t bike to work,” Page 1B, March 23).
With our mellow weather and flat topography, Silicon Valley should look like Amsterdam. Bicycles should be king. Especially San Jose, with its newly completed bikeways along Guadalupe, Coyote, and Los Gatos Creeks feeding downtown. San Jose could be the major biking city of America. Transforming our car culture to a bike culture would benefit our own fitness as well as benefiting my grandchildren’s climate by lowering our carbon-dioxide emissions today. By the way, to learn the best bike routes around your neighborhood, be sure to click the little bike icon on Google Maps. Steve Eittreim Palo Alto
