SUNNYVALE — An early morning fire damaged several businesses Tuesday in a strip mall near Lawrence Expressway, according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

The two-alarm blaze ignited at 3:24 a.m. at the strip mall at 550 Lakeside Drive, which sent flames through the roof, according to Capt. Shawn Ahearn of the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

The first fire crews to arrive found an unoccupied suite charged with smoke. Firefighters attempted to enter the suite to locate the fire but the conditions were unsafe, Ahearn said.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze in about one hour. Nine businesses were damaged, either by the fire itself or by smoke and water damage, according to ABC7.

Teanado, Sal’s Airport & Limo Service and Bayview Realty were among the businesses damaged.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
