Milton Schwartz passed away peacefully on October 5, 2018. A longtime resident of Belmont, California, he was born on May 12, 1920 in New York City to Harry and Shirley Schwartz.
During WWII, Milt served as a Liaison Officer of the Army’s 20th Armored Division, which took part in liberating the Dachau concentration camp in 1945. After the war, he completed his B.S. in Civil Engineering at UC Berkeley and worked for the California Division of Highways for 7 years before accepting a position at Piombo Construction Company and settling in Belmont in 1954.
Milt was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club, the Associated General Contractors, and the Sons in Retirement, and served many years on the Belmont County Water Board and local PTAs.
Milt passed away peacefully after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for several years. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Estelle Walsh, and his brother, Eugene Schwartz. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Betty, his daughters, Cathleen Kennedy and Carin Perrott, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
At his request, there will be no memorial service. The family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
