Brazen jewel thief rap­pels into Costco

Po­lice are search­ing for a thief who rap­pelled from the ceil­ing of the Costco in King of Prus­sia to steal jew­elry.

KING OF PRUS­SIA >> Au­thor­i­ties are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a brazen jewel heist at a Costco in which the sus­pect re­port­edly rap­pelled from the ceil­ing of the big box re­tailer to the store­room floor.

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice re­port, of­fi­cers re­sponded to an alarm at the build­ing at 201 Al­len­dale Road around 1 a.m. on Feb. 6. The in­ves­ti­ga­tion re­vealed that the sus­pect some­how gained ac­cess to the roof, and made en­try by break­ing through a sky­light.

The thief then rap­pelled into the store and stole jew­elry from a jew­elry case be­fore leav­ing through a rear door to­ward the Penn­syl­va­nia Turn­pike.

There is no word on whether or not the sus­pect had an ac­com­plice, what items of jew­elry were stolen or their value, as in­ves­ti­ga­tors are re­leas­ing lit­tle in­for­ma­tion cit­ing an on­go­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

Rep­re­sen­ta­tives from Costco’s cor­po­rate of­fices also de­clined to com­ment be­cause the in­ves­ti­ga­tion re­mains ac­tive.
