Warren 4th in triple jump at Penn Relays

Perkiomen Valley sophomore Christina Warren placed fourth in the girls’ triple jump Thursday at the Penn Relays, the top American finisher behind a trio of Jamaican jumpers.

Track & Field

PENN RELAYS >> Perkiomen Valley’s Christina Warren placed fourth in the girls triple jump on the opening day Thursday at the Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvan­ia.

The Viking sophomore went 39-8 ¾ in the event, which was won by Keneva Headley of Holmwood Tech (Christiana, JAM), at 42-8.

In relay action, Perk Valley’s distance medley relay foursome finished 14th. The Spring-Ford girls 4x800 was 43rd with a time of 9:35.59.

Softball

UPPER PERKIOMEN 7, UPPER MERION 0>> Taylor Lindsay threw a two-hitter, and she and sister Morgan Lindsay had two of the Tribe’s biggest bats in their Pioneer Athletic Conference Frontier Division shutout of the Vikings.

Taylor fanned 14 while walking none, and she and Morgan (2-for-4, two RBI) had back-to-back home runs in UP’s three-run seventh — Taylor plating two runs with her blast. Sarah Heidler and Alyssa Sullivan also went 2-for-4 with doubles for UP, with Karlee Fretz hitting another two-bagger. PHOENIXVIL­LE 4, POPE JOHN PAUL II 3 >> The Phantoms topped the Golden Panthers behind a solid pitching performanc­e from Jess Eldridge.

Eldridge allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits, and she also recorded six strikeouts in seven innings of work. The Phoenixvil­le offense was provided by Jess Anthony (triple and RBI), Emily Buckwalter (double and RBI), and singles from Melissa Cappelli, Susan Duncan, Miranda McMahon and Katie Rutledge. OWEN J. ROBERTS 4, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 3>> Scoring three times in the bottom of the third inning, the Wildcats overtook the Vikings to win their PAC Liberty Division pairing.

Darby Stuart had a triple and two RBI to lead OJR, with Brittney Dellaquila getting the pitching decision. PV pitcher Abby Wild tried to support her mound efforts with a home run and three RBI, but the effort fell short of fruition. WEST-MONT CHRISTIAN 17, BARRACK HEBREW 4 >> Grace Flynn pitched a complete game and drove in four runs to key the Wings’ Tri-County League win over the Cougars.

Flynn fanned four and allowed just eight hits; additional­ly, she scored four times for West-Mont. Morgan Stimson hit two triples and drove in three runs while Katarina Sobolewski and Emmy Jenkins each had three RBI.

Baseball

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 3, OWEN J. ROBERTS 2>> Matt Szczesny delivered a basesloade­d walk-off single with one out in the bottom of the seventh during the Vikings’ PAC win over the Wildcats.

Dylan Boyd finished 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored and pitched six innings where he held OJR to two runs on six hits. Austyn Levengood finished 2-for-3 with an RBI while Josh Fulmer had a hit and a run scored for the Wildcats. POPE JOHN PAUL II 3, PHOENIXVIL­LE 1 >> Logan Mabry threw a two-hitter, giving up one unearned run to lead the Golden Panthers over the Phantoms.

Mike Kelly and Dan Cirino led PJP’s offense with two hits and one run scored apiece. UPPER MERION 9, UPPER PERKIOMEN 3 >> The Indians fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a PAC Frontier Division loss to the Vikings.

Ryan McAteer earned the win for Upper Merion, going 6-1/3 innings, allowing three runs and eight hits while striking out four. Graham Kutt took the loss for Upper Perkiomen after pitching four innings, allowing four runs, nine hits, striking out one and walking one.

Upper Perk collected eight hits. Eric Schneider, Justin Wornham, and Macauley Swenk each collected multiple hits for the Tribe. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 14, RENAISSANC­E AC.0>> The Panthers banged out 15 hits on the way to bringing the mercy rule into effect in their Tri-County League game with Renaissanc­e Academy.

Ian Diaz’s two-run homer was the big blow for Perkiomen (4-0, 10-1) in its five-run fifth. Back-to-back doubles by Nick Guadarrama (two RBI) and Jayden Kemp (one RBI) fueled the two-run second, and Chris Pow added an RBI double in the midst of the Panthers’ four-run fourth. DANIEL BOONE 6, READING 0 >> Connor Cleaver pitched a complete game shutout, with five strikeouts against no walks, to lead the Blazers over the Red Knights in Berks Conference play.

Boys lacrosse

OWEN J. ROBERTS 18, POTTSGROVE 1 >> The Wildcats were out to an 11-0 lead by the half en route to a PAC romp of the Falcons.

Joey Tordone finished with three goals and three assists while Logan Clefisch notched a hat trick. Colin Gamble, Sevion McLean and Shane Beitel finished with two goals apiece while Nick Milano had a goal and an assist. Connor Reese made four saves. SPRING-FORD 18, METHACTON 5 >> Tate Pijanowski’s five-goal showing headed the Rams in their PAC victory over the Warriors.

Danny Cassidy had four goals and three assists for Spring-Ford, which used a 12-goal run in the second and third quarters to break out of a 4-1 first-quarter deadlock. Kyle Carcala netted a hat trick for Methacton.

POPE JOHN PAUL II 15, NORRISTOWN 1 >> The Golden Panthers handled the Eagles in a Pioneer Athletic Conference game. Jack Cisick and James Poot had three goals each for PJP. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 14,

WOODLYNDE 4 >> Miles Longstreth hit the nets for a game-high eight goals to lead the Panthers’ Tri-County League victory over Woodlynde.

Gavin Harrison contribute­d two other tallies to Perkiomen’s total. TWIN VALLEY 12, DANIEL BOONE 8 >> Ethan Warner had four goals and three assists to lead the Raiders past the Blazers in Berks Conference action.

Kyle Golden led Daniel Boone with six goals, and Anthony Stevenson completed Boone’s scoring. Jared Glanski added seven-save goal-tending.

Girls lacrosse

POPE JOHN PAUL II 19, PHOENIXVIL­LE 7 >> Monica Rapchinski had a hand in 11 goals during the Golden Panthers’ PAC win over the Phantoms.

Rapchinski scored 10 times and added an assist while Julia Latoff scored four times to go along with an assist. Lauren Bello netted a hat trick while Kylie Cherneskie and Grace Cobaugh (two assists) each registered solo tallies. Kendall Beatty paced Phoenixvil­le with a hat trick. UPPER MERION 15, UPPER PERKIOMEN 8 >> Molly Weygand hit for a game-high five goals, and Riley O’Malley had another four to key the Vikings’ PAC Frontier Division victory over the Indians.

Hope Flack had a hat trick to lead UP, whose other goals came from Erika Boyer, Courtney Bauer, Mackenzie Gebhard, Grace Lehman and AiYi Young. TWIN VALLEY 15, DANIEL BOONE 5 >> Hannah Anderson scored four goals and Grace Hiddemen had three goals and two assists to lead the Raiders past the Blazers in their Berks Conference pairing.

Ashley Bonetz had four goals and an assist to lead Boone. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 17, DELAWARE VALLEY FRIENDS 7 >> Hannah Chiesa and Mikayla Matthews each scored five times to lead the Panthers’ Tri-County League victory over Delaware Valley Friends.

Zora Bissell and Memphis Coddington (three assists) chipped in with two goals apiece for Perkiomen.

Boys volleyball

DANIEL BOONE 3, EXETER 1 >> Jamie Burns had 12 kills, nine digs and three aces to help the Blazers top the Eagles in Berks Conference action. Boone (80, 11-1) won by set scores of 25-11, 2519 and 25-13 around Exeter’s third-set 25-20 victory.
