Norch­ester Red Knights rout Brandy­wine

The Norch­ester Red Knights kicked off Week 2 of their 57th sea­son last Satur­day, Sept. 9 with a slate of road games at Brandy­wine. The 80-lb. team won 19-0 shutout while the 130-lb. team won a 27-0.

BUCKTOWN » The Norch­ester Red Knights kicked off week 2 of their 57th sea­son last Satur­day, Sept. 9 with a slate of road games at Brandy­wine.

The 80-lb. team won in a 19-0 shutout, led by the de­fen­sive play of Ma­son Hoff­man, Pre­ston Miller and Sam Funk. The of­fen­sive line pro­vided great pro­tec­tion for QB Tyler Drumheller on a touch­down pass to Jaiden Carpenter. Deymein Doc­tor and Caden Long­worth added rush­ing scores behind the block­ing of Ay­den Shaf­fer, Ja­cob Bunt­ing, Brady Funk, Misan Ono­fomi, Bryce Kitchen, Evan Pet­tine, Gabe Psolka and Deon Tay­lor.

The 130-lb. team avenged its 2016 loss to BYC with a 27-0 vic­tory that in­cluded a 40-yard touch­down pass from Will Whit­lock to tight end Drew Florkowski. The Red Knights added rush­ing touch­downs from Whit­lock, Tony Vil­larosa, and Avrey Grimm.

The de­fen­sive front of Colin King, Calvin Wol­frey, Josh Bar­ron, Gage Parker and Hunter Trott wreaked havoc against the Bull­dogs’ of­fense. The se­condary was su­perb, with Gavin Psolka, Gabe Rinda, Bryce Caf­frey, Josh Bunt­ing and cor­ner back Deven Ven­erra, who picked off a BYC pass in the shutout ef­fort.

The Norch­ester ground game was paced by cen­ter Gar­rett Bar­tosiewicz, and of­fen­sive line­men James Bean, Josh Bar­ron, Gab­bie Werner-Huth and Mike Mag­gio. Nathan Lan­glois, Simir Cole­man, and Aden O’Don­nell were out­stand­ing on special teams.
