Substance violations top crime in Pottstown

POTTSTOWN » Drug and alcohol violations were the leading crime in Pottstown over the past week.

According to crimemappi­ng.com, a police-run website used to inform the public about crime in their area, nine incidents involving drugs and alcohol were reported over the past week. Drug possession was reported four times over the past week including incidents on the 400 block of Chestnut Street, the 100 block of North Washington Street, the 300 block of Apple Street and Chestnut Street. Public drunkennes­s was reported on the 300 block of Beech Street, the 300 block of East High Street, South Franklin Street and the 700 block of North Charlotte Street. One drug sale was also reported on East Second Street.

Assault was reported six times over the past week with one incident involving hands, feet and fists occurring on the 500 block of North Franklin Street. Five other incidents were reportedly non-aggravated assaults which occurred on Beech Street, the 500 block of North Charlotte Street, the 1000 block of South Street, the 300 block of Chestnut Street and the 600 block of King Street.

Four incidents involving harassment were also reported since Oct. 3. Those instances occurred on the 300 block of East High Street, the 300 block of North Hanover Street, Ryan Street and North Franklin Street.

Criminal mischief was reported three times over the past week including an incident involving buildings on the 400 block of Jefferson Street and two incidents involving vehicles on the 1100 block of South Street and Myrtle Street.

Weapons offenses and thefts were both reported twice over the past week. Offenses involving weapons were reported on the 100 block of East High Street and the 1200 block of South Street. One retail theft occurred on the 300 block of East High Street while a theft from buildings was reported on the 500 block of North Franklin Street.
