Mary Louise Mess­mer, 88, of Pottstown, passed away on Sat­ur­day, Nov. 11, 2017 at Pottstown Hos­pi­tal af­ter a short ill­ness.

Born in Philadel­phia, she was the daugh­ter of the late An­thony C. and Mary J. (Uricheck) Mess­mer.

When Mary was 16, she moved to Chicago into the Sis­ters of Di­vine Prov­i­dence home. Her fa­ther helped to have the same fa­cil­ity opened in Pottstown. Upon the clos­ing of the Sis­ters home, Mary moved to a new home in Pottstown su­per­vised by Growth Hori­zons. She was also very in­volved with Spe­cial Olympics Bowl­ing at Lim­er­ick Lanes.

Sur­viv­ing are sis­ter El­iz­a­beth “Betsy” Man­ning, brother-in-law James McCabe, her life­time friend Ruth Tansey, and sev­eral nieces and neph­ews. Along with her par­ents, she is pre­de­ceased by her sis­ter Bar­bara “Bobby” McCabe and brother in law Dr. Richard Man­ning.

A me­mo­rial ser­vice will be Thurs­day, Nov. 16, 11:00AM at Catag­nus Fu­neral Home & Cre­ma­tion Cen­ter, Inc., 711 N. Franklin Street, Pottstown, with vis­i­ta­tion from 10:30AM to 11:00AM. Burial will be pri­vate and at a later date.

In lieu of flow­ers, do­na­tions may be made in Mary’s name to Lim­er­ick Bowl­ing Cen­ter for Spe­cial Olympics, 653 W. Ridge Pike, Lim­er­ick, PA 19468.
