Lane closures set for Route 422 construction
Westbound Route 422 motorists will encounter a right-lane closure between the Sanatoga and Route 724 (Schuylkill Road) interchanges on Tuesday, Aug. 14, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., for various construction activities on a project to rebuild 1.6 miles of Route 422 and construct new structures over the Schuylkill River and Norfolk Southern railroad tracks in Lower Pottsgrove Township.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling on Route 422 through the work area. All planned activities will be rescheduled in the event of rain.
Under this project, PennDOT’s contractor is building, in phases, new U.S. 422 structures over the Schuylkill River; new U.S. 422 structures over Norfolk Southern railroad tracks; rebuilding U.S. 422 from the Schuylkill River bridge to the Porter Road overpass; installing new median barriers; replacing the Armand Hammer Boulevard bridge over U.S. 422; improving and realigning ramps at the U.S. 422/Armand Hammer Boulevard Interchange; reconstructing and realigning the ramp from Route 724 to U.S. 422 east; improving storm water drainage; erecting three overhead sign structures; installing conduit for future Intelligent Transportation equipment; and installing new guide rail and signs.
