Ger­ald V. Rohrbach, 89, of Dou­glassville, PA passed away on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 5, 2018, at the Read­ing Hos­pi­tal & Med­i­cal Cen­ter.

Born in Weaver­town, Amity Twp., PA, he was the son of the late Floyd C. Rohrbach Sr. and Verna V. (Mauger) Rohrbach. He was the lov­ing hus­band of Jeane (Schurr) Rohrbach, and a lov­ing fa­ther to his chil­dren.

Ger­ald was a mem­ber of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Dou­glassville, PA.

He grad­u­ated from Amity High School in 1948 and served in the US Ma­rine Corps dur­ing the Korean War.

Ger­ald was em­ployed as a mas­ter crafts­man and fore­man for Kutz Builders Inc. for 61 years and built cus­tom homes through­out south­east­ern PA.

Ger­ald was a found­ing mem­ber of the Daniel Boone Op­ti­mist Club. He loved his gar­dens, bird­watch­ing, and build­ing birdhouses. In his younger years, he played bas­ket­ball for the Amity A.C. Aces and helped his team go un­de­feated that won the Berks Rec Bas­ket­ball League Ti­tle in 1948-49. In 1954, he played for the Amity A.C. Aces that won the YMCA Berks Co. Bas­ket­ball Tour­na­ment.

Ger­ald was an in­struc­tor for Berks County Vo­ca­tional Tech­ni­cal classes in wood­work­ing. Later on, he taught chil­dren in pub­lic school how to build birdhouses. His pas­sion for build­ing and cre­at­ing spanned his life­time.

Sur­viv­ing Ger­ald, along with his wife, are, 1 son: Jef­frey A. Rohrbach, hus­band of Ann B. of Annapolis, MD; and 1 daugh­ter: Kathy R. Faren­ish, wife of John M. of Fair­fax Sta­tion, VA. He was also sur­vived by 3 grand­chil­dren: Kathryn, Kyle, and Alexan­der.

Ger­ald was pre­de­ceased by 1 brother: Floyd C. Rohrbach, Jr., and 1 sis­ter: Mildred J. Shinn.

A Visi­ta­tion will be held on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 20, 2018, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 548 Old Swede Rd., Dou­glassville, PA 19518 from 9:30 am – 10:45 am. A Memo­rial Ser­vice will be held at 11:00 am, fol­low­ing the visi­ta­tion at the church.

In lieu of flow­ers, memo­rial con­tri­bu­tions may be made in his me­mory to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, at the above ad­dress.
