Area congregations schedule special services and events
Pottstown — The Thrift Shop is open today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Coventryville United Methodist Church, 1521 Old Ridge Road.
A Wings and Tater Tots Dinner will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. today. Menu items include wings, tater tots, green beans, apple sauce, dessert, coffee, water and iced tea. Dine-in or Take-out. Cost is Adults $12; Students and Seniors (65 and older) $8; Kids 5 and under are free.
Pottstown —The Cherub Choir will be singing on Sunday at First Presbyterian Church. The Jr. Seekers will head to Redner’s Market after worship for the annual Operation Backpack Food Drive. Join First Presbyterians as we host the annual CROP Walk at 1:30 p.m. to raise money for hunger.
St. Luke’s Lutheran
Obelisk — The St. Luke’s Lutheran Youth Organization is hosting a Dodgeball Challenge at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday at Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church, Route 73 and Neiffer Road, to benefit the 2019 Mission Trip to Dexter, Maine.
A free Community Dinner will be offered on Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.
St. James Lutheran
Limerick — The annual “Apple Festival” will be held today starting at 9 a.m. including a Flea Market offering a variety of gentlyused items and a Silent Auction which features an array of products and services donated by local businesses and church members. Children’s games and story time, moon bounce, tractor rides, pie throwing, baked goods, apple and fall treats, specialty coffee and cider, mums, a variety of crafts and homemade chili and sloppy Joes. Special appearances from the Limerick Fire Department and Limerick Police Canine Unit. Proceeds will benefit the church’s mission trip fund and Julia’s Grace Foundation.
Barto — The annual Pork and Kraut Dinner will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Calvary United Church of Christ, 1231 Route 100.
Barto — The supply for the 7:45 and 10:15 a.m. worship services on Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, will be Rachel Scheible, a graduate of the LTSP in 2011. During the services, the prayer shawls as well as the quilts made by parishioners will be blessed.
Pottstown — Sunday is Mission’s Ministry Annual Day at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Community Church of Pottstown, 575 N. Keim St., with the Reverend Rhonda Charles Williams from Living Water Prayer Center, Wilmington, Delaware, as guest preacher.
Shepherd of the Hills
Bechtelsville — Zion Choral will present a concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Shepherd of the Hills Church, 527 Hoffmansville Road. The concert is open to all and free. An offering will be received.
St. Luke Lutheran
Gilbertsville — There will be a special recognition of our mowers on Sunday at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 35 Wilson Ave., who have worked overtime because of so much rain. The Senior Breakfast Group will meet at 8 a.m. on Wednesday at Saville’s Restaurant.
The Community Clothing Rack will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday for clothing distribution.
St. John’s UCC
Pottstown — The Social Committee at St. John’s United Church of Christ is hosting a card-making gathering at 6 p.m. tonight. All materials are provided and light refreshments will be served.
Members of the congregation will participate in the annual CROP Walk on Sunday kicking off at 2 p.m. St. John’s will serve as the first stop on the Walk.
Preparations are underway for the Halloween Party to be held Oct. 28.
St. Paul’s UCC
Pottstown — Members of the congregation at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 927 N. Franklin St. will prepare and serve the Community Meal at First Presbyterian Church on Thursday.
Pottstown — Kim Adamson will serve as guest minister at the 10:15 a.m. worship service on Sunday at Zion’s United Church of Christ, Hanover and Chestnut streets. Sunday is also Fall Ingathering and participation in the Pottstown CROP walk. Piano solos will be played by Chase Bartolini and sister Isa.

Pottstown — Pastor Roland Anderson’s 24th Pastoral Anniversary will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Sunday at Second Baptist Church, 507 N. Adams St. Guest Preacher will be Bishop Nathaniel Woodard, Philadelphia. Dinner will be served. All are welcome.
Spring City — Addyson Mae Stryjak will be baptized during the 10 a.m. service on Sunday at Brownback’s United Church of Christ, 640 Ridge Road. All are invited to remain after the service for Social Hour in Fellowship Hall hosted by Peggy Copenhaver and Judy White.

Pottstown —Church Members will meet from 8 a.m. to noon today at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 564 Glasgow St. for the Fall Church Workday to work on the lawn, flower beds and patch the parking lot.
Harvest Home Sunday will be celebrated with Worship Services at 8 and 10:30 a.m. The Altar to be adorned with vegetables of fall harvest. Congregation is asked to bring in canned and nonperishable food items for distribution to the Pottstown Cluster Outreach Center. Newest member, Lisbeth Stauffer Watson of Pottstown, will be welcomed into the church family at the 8 a.m. worship service.
Sunday will be the last day to purchase 25 percent off discount passes for Tuesday, Oct.16, during the Boscov’s “Friends Helping Friends Day.” The $5 pass fee will benefit the church’s Capital Campaign Appeal.
Sunday is also the last day to purchase tickets following both worship services for the All-You-CanEat Spaghetti and Meatball Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 4 to 7 p.m.
The newly elected Bishop from the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod, The Reverend Patricia Ann Curtis Davenport, will be the guest speaker at the Upper Montgomery Lutheran Pastor’s Conference at Grace Lutheran Church, Royersford, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Delegates from the church will be David Cremi, Church Council president; Darlyn Snyder, Church Council secretary; and The Reverend John Smolik, pastor.
