Po­lice stand­off ends peace­fully

DOU­GLASS (MONT.) >> A stand­off at a Dou­glass (Mont.) Town­ship home ended peace­fully Thurs­day night after sev­eral area po­lice de­part­ments re­sponded to the home.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports at the scene, po­lice from at least five area de­part­ments were in­volved in a stand-off Thurs­day night at a house at the in­ter­sec­tion of Mont­gomery Ave. and 4th St. in Dou­glass (Mont.) Town­ship.

Po­lice at the scene said a man who was wanted for a hit-and-run crash and other charges ran into the house after po­lice tried to stop his car near the Town Cen­ter Shop­ping Cen­ter.

The man, who was not iden­ti­fied by po­lice, later ex­ited the home and was taken into cus­tody.

Po­lice were aided by a K-9 unit as of­fi­cers sur­rounded the house try­ing to talk the man out. The sit­u­a­tion ended peace­fully around 9:30 p.m.
