- Staff Report

WEST HARTFORD >> The Middletown High’s girls basketball team came from behind in the fourth quarter and outscored Hall by 16 points down the stretch to win its Central Connecticut Conference semifinal over Hall, 62-47, and advance to the CCC championship game against Enfield Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Glastonbury High School.

“I couldn’t be happier about the composure our kids showed tonight,” said MHS coach Rob Smernoff. “We were losing for the vast majority of the first three quarters, but the team stuck together. Brielle [Wilborn 26 points] had a tremendous game in the post and really gook control of the game in the paint.

“We also received great all-around games from Jen Barbour [15 points] and Dominique Highsmith [12 points] as they provided us with multiple scoring options.”

The teams were tied after one, 11-11, and Hall led at the half, 27-26.

Both teams had 10 points in the third and Hall led 3736 gong to the final eight minutes. But the Blue Dragons exploded for 26 points in the fourth and won the game going away

Hall placed three players in double figures led by Mandy Mandyck’s 17. Ally Gellerman had 14 and Ally Raisner had 10.

Middletown improved to 21-2 and Hall fell to 19-4.

In the latest New Haven Register/GameTime CT poll, Enfield (22-1) was ranked No. 4 and Middletown was ranked No. 9.
