Wil­liam Ken­ney, 92 of Mid­dle­town, hus­band of the late Kathryn (Giza) Ken­ney, died on Wed­nes­day, April 19, 2017, at Mid­dle­sex Health Care Cen­ter. He was born on Novem­ber 7, 1924 in El­iz­a­beth, New Jer­sey, son of the late Pa­trick and Mar­garet (Regan) Ken­ney. He was a vet­eran of World War II serv­ing with the US Air­force. Dur­ing his ser­vice, Bill served as a ra­dio op­er­a­tor in B25 bombers with the 42nd Bomb Group, 13th Air Force in the Philip­pine Is­lands. He was awarded the Air Medal for his “coura­geous ser­vice” suc­cess­fully per­form­ing 24 mis­sions from April 1945 to VJ Day. Prior to his re­tire­ment, Wil­liam was em­ployed by the Hartford Courant News­pa­per. He was for­mer Pres­i­dent of the Men’s Club at St. Mary’s Church in Mid­dle­town. He was a golfer from the age of 9 and was a mem­ber of the East Hartford Golf Club, In­dian Springs Golf Club, and Manch­ester Coun­try Club and had eight “holes in one” dur­ing his golf­ing ca­reer. Sur­viv­ing are sons, Richard Ken­ney and his wife Mar­garet of Love­land, CO, Pa­trick Ken­ney of Port­land, CT, Jonathon Ken­ney of Ft. Laud­erdale, FL, daugh­ters, Janet Ken­ney of Mid­dle­town, CT, Nancy DeMar­seilles and her hus­band Mark of Bran­ford, CT and Kath­leen Ken­ney of Bris­tol CT, sis­ter, Pa­tri­cia Terasaka of St. Pe­ters­burg, FL, ten grand­chil­dren and three great grand­chil­dren. He was pre­de­ceased by his son, Wil­liam Kenny and brother, Harold Ken­ney. Wil­liam’s fam­ily would like to give a spe­cial thank you to the staff at Mid­dle­sex Health­care for their won­der­ful care and com­pas­sion. His Funeral Li­turgy will be held on Mon­day (April 24th) at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Czesto­chowa Church, Mid­dle­town. Burial with mil­i­tary hon­ors will be in Cal­vary Ceme­tery. Friends may gather on Mon­day from 9 to 10 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Sil­ver St., Mid­dle­town.
