THE LONG-TERM CARE OMBUDSMAN PROGRAM
NEEDED: Volunteers to advocate for residents in long term care facilities. All volunteers receive 36-hour training course, are certified by the California Department of Aging, and receive guidance from trained volunteer staff. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and commit to volunteering at least 15 flexible hours per month. To learn more about the Ombudsman program and training call 209-322-0204.

CLEANSING HOPE SHOWER SHUTTLE
NEEDED: Volunteers 18 and older. We provide mobile showers to the working poor, homeless, and poverty-stricken residents of Modesto. Duties include wiping and disinfecting shower items as well as preparing totes for our next guests. Also, assisting guests with check-in, the shave station and passing out hygiene kits. Also opportunities for those who wish to engage with guests. Volunteers must sign a waiver the first time they serve.

COURT-APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES OF STANISLAUS COUNTY (CASA)
NEEDED: Volunteers 21 years or older to serve as advocates. The mission of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is to ensure the best interests of every abused and/or neglected child in Stanislaus County by providing a highly-trained volunteer to advocate for them within the dependency court system. NEEDED: Volunteers 21 and older to assist shelter staff with tasks, answer the crisis line, perform intakes, lead recreational activities, tutor youth, co-facilitate groups, transport youth to meetings, events and appointments, interact with youth, chart in files and participate in other activities to provide support to youth and families. Volunteers are required to participate in at least 18 hours of initial training, commitment of 6 months or 200 hours. Volunteers must have availability to attend an interview and required trainings. Volunteers must have the ability to demonstrate capacity to fulfill duties and time commitments as stated above, pass TB test and fingerprint clearance. NEEDED: Volunteers to help provide food and clothing to needy individuals and families during the week. Warehouse volunteers pick up, receive, sort, and distribute food to clients; Food Pantry volunteers bag grocery orders, and stock shelves; and Clothes Closet volunteers sort clothing and assist in the community clothes closet. Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. depending on position. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or have a parent or guardian present.

LEARNING QUEST STANISLAUS LITERACY PROGRAM
NEEDED: Volunteers to work with adult learners who are at or below a seventh-grade reading level to improve reading and writing skills in English. Volunteers meet twice a week for 90-minute sessions for a sixmonth period. Volunteers must attend our Volunteer Training and one workshop a year as a requirement.

MODESTO LOVE CENTER
NEEDED: Volunteers in our Commodity Supplement Food Program to serve low-income seniors a monthly food box Mondays to Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will be prepping and packing boxes in the warehouse and are required to wear closed-toe shoes.

OAK VALLEY YOUTH GARDEN
NEEDED: Volunteers 16 years or older are needed to help set up and assist in the garden and crafts area for children. Volunteers will also help children select ripe produce to pick, wash, and prep for donation and clean up at the end of garden time at least once or twice a month, from 2-4 p.m.

SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS
NEEDED: Volunteers 18 and older and their friendly pets to visit seniors in convalescent hospitals and care facilities through the Pet Outreach Program. Children are welcome if well supervised by parent. Volunteers accompany their pets as they socialize with residents in facilities throughout the community. Pets need to be friendly and like to be handled. Visits are made the first and second Saturday mornings and the third Wednesday mornings of each month.
