A 23-year-old Lorain man is facing charges following an April 25 domestic dispute, according to a Lorain police report.

Deandre Humphrey, 23, of Lorain, is facing charges of domestic violence, illegal conveyance into a detention facility and possession of schedule II narcotics and marijuana.

Officers responded to a house in the 1500 block of West 18th Street where they met with a 29-yearold woman who stated she was assaulted by her children’s father, according to the report.

The dispute began after Humphrey failed to pick up one of his children from the home of the child’s relatives, the report said.

The woman told police after Humphrey returned to the house at about 5:30 p.m., an argument took place at which point he followed her into a bedroom and “grabbed me from behind by my neck,” according to the report.

She pushed Humphrey off of her before running outside to dial 911 from the front porch of the residence, the report said. When Humphrey confronted her again, the woman said he pulled her hair, broke a nail and left scratches on her right arm as he pulled on her, the report said.

Officers noticed a large clump of hair had been pulled from the woman’s scalp in addition to red marks on her right arm, according to the report.

Following the altercation on the porch, Humphrey and another male fled the area. A short time later, police arrested Humphrey in the 600 block of East 35th Street.

Humphrey described the incident as a miscommunication and denied assaulting the woman, the report said.

As Humphrey was changing into his jail uniform, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana, the report said.

After he denied concealing anything on his person, two small plastic bags fell from inside of his underwear as he was handing it over to officers, according to the report.

The bags contained 16.5 grams of a green leafy substance and a larger bag containing 17 white pills totaling 330 milligrams, the report said.

The contents of the two bags tested positive for marijuana and Oxycodone, according to the report.

After learning he would face additional charges, Humphrey began banging his head against the surrounding walls and threatened to “Aaron Hernandez himself,” which officers believe to be street terminology for committing suicide in jail, the report said.

Humphrey was transported by LifeCare Ambulance Service to Mercy Regional Medical after he claimed to have ingested several unknown pills prior to his arrest, the report said.

After being medically cleared, Humphrey was transferred to the Lorain County Jail.

Court officials have not set a hearing date.
