Shred Day in Avon Lake

The Lo­rain County com­mis­sion­ers’ Solid Waste District is en­cour­ag­ing res­i­dents to safely de­stroy pa­per doc­u­ments to re­duce the pos­si­bil­ity of iden­tity theft.

A Shred Day hosted by Avon Lake will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, Nov. 18, at 32850 Elec­tric Blvd.

Dur­ing any Lo­rain County shred­ding event, shred­ding is for Lo­rain County res­i­dents only, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease by the com­mis­sion­ers.

Doc­u­ments for busi­nesses, schools, of­fices or other or­ga­ni­za­tions will not be ac­cepted.

Per­sonal doc­u­ments may in­clude: bank ac­count state­ments, can­celled checks, wage/salary state­ments and other in­come records. It also may in­clude in­come tax re­turns, prop­erty tax bills and re­ceipts, le­gal doc­u­ments, school tran­scripts, re­sumes, em­ploy­ment records and pa­per med­i­cal records.

Credit cards, plas­tic disks or med­i­cal images are pro­hib­ited, ac­cord­ing to com­mis­sion­ers and the Solid Waste District. The re­moval of all large me­tal binder clips or three ring binders also is en­cour­aged.
