Shred Day in Avon Lake
The Lorain County commissioners’ Solid Waste District is encouraging residents to safely destroy paper documents to reduce the possibility of identity theft.
A Shred Day hosted by Avon Lake will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, Nov. 18, at 32850 Electric Blvd.
During any Lorain County shredding event, shredding is for Lorain County residents only, according to a news release by the commissioners.
Documents for businesses, schools, offices or other organizations will not be accepted.
Personal documents may include: bank account statements, cancelled checks, wage/salary statements and other income records. It also may include income tax returns, property tax bills and receipts, legal documents, school transcripts, resumes, employment records and paper medical records.
Credit cards, plastic disks or medical images are prohibited, according to commissioners and the Solid Waste District. The removal of all large metal binder clips or three ring binders also is encouraged.
