Elyria man accused of assaulting officer
Elyria police charged Paul J. Chike, 52, with assaulting a police officer, a fourth-degree felony, and resisting arrest, a first-degree misdemeanor, after they say he struck an officer with his right leg, according to a police report.
Police responded to a drunken disagreement at 141 Princeton Ave. at 9:21 p.m., Feb. 13.
The report said Chike was found lying on the floor of an upstairs room and was being assisted out the door when he kicked an officer in the thigh.
Chike continued to fight and struggle with officers until they were able to put him in handcuffs, the report said.
Police transported Chike to the Lorain County Jail. He has an Elyria Municipal Court date at 10 a.m., Feb. 21.
