Po­lice search for armed rob­ber

The West­lake Po­lice Depart­ment is in­ves­ti­gat­ing an armed robbery where the sus­pect fled the scene, po­lice say.

The robbery oc­curred at 5:46 p.m., May 17, in the park­ing lot of 23775 Cen­ter Ridge Road, when a con­trac­tor in the park­ing lot was ap­proached by an ap­prox­i­mately 6-foot white or his­panic male wear­ing a dark hoodie and a paint ball-type pro­tec­tive hel­met and gog­gles, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease by West­lake Po­lice.

The sus­pect bran­dished a hand­gun and robbed the vic­tim of an undis­closed amount of money and left the area on foot. There were no re­ported in­juries, the re­lease said.

West­lake was as­sisted by North Olm­sted, Bay Vil­lage, and Rocky River Po­lice De­part­ments in search­ing the area for sus­pect or sus­pects. No one has been ar­rested at this time. De­tec­tives and of­fi­cers are still on scene gath­er­ing phys­i­cal ev­i­dence and state­ments from wit­nesses, ac­cord­ing to the re­lease.
