Crush­ers top Nor­mal for fourth straight win

Start­ing pitcher Don­ald Mur­ray struck out seven in seven in­nings, Sean Hurley hit a home run, and the Crush­ers beat the Corn­bel­ters, 2-0, for their fourth straight vic­tory.

The Crush­ers com­pleted a sweep of the Nor­mal Corn­Bel­ters, 2-0, on May 17 at Sprenger Sta­dium to win their fourth con­sec­u­tive game.

Starter Don­ald Mur­ray tossed seven score­less in­nings along with seven strike­outs and gave up five hits, and Sean Hurley home­red as Lake Erie im­proved to 4-2.

The Crush­ers’ pitch­ing staff held the Corn­Bel­ters to just two runs in the first two games of the se­ries. Corn­Bel­ters starter Scott Se­bald pitched eight in­nings, yield­ing two runs on seven hits.

Hurley home­red in the fourth in­ning for his first of the sea­son, and Lake Erie added a run in the eighth when Dane Hutcheon hit a sac­ri­fice fly, scor­ing Bryan DeLaRosa.

Re­liever Max Biedrzy­cki pitched a clean eighth in­ning, and closer Justin Sini­baldi picked up his first save of the year.

Lake Erie hosts the Wash­ing­ton Wild Things this week­end.
