Crushers top Normal for fourth straight win
Starting pitcher Donald Murray struck out seven in seven innings, Sean Hurley hit a home run, and the Crushers beat the Cornbelters, 2-0, for their fourth straight victory.
The Crushers completed a sweep of the Normal CornBelters, 2-0, on May 17 at Sprenger Stadium to win their fourth consecutive game.
Starter Donald Murray tossed seven scoreless innings along with seven strikeouts and gave up five hits, and Sean Hurley homered as Lake Erie improved to 4-2.
The Crushers’ pitching staff held the CornBelters to just two runs in the first two games of the series. CornBelters starter Scott Sebald pitched eight innings, yielding two runs on seven hits.
Hurley homered in the fourth inning for his first of the season, and Lake Erie added a run in the eighth when Dane Hutcheon hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Bryan DeLaRosa.
Reliever Max Biedrzycki pitched a clean eighth inning, and closer Justin Sinibaldi picked up his first save of the year.
Lake Erie hosts the Washington Wild Things this weekend.
