Lo­rain woman pleads in 2016 shoot­ing death

A Lo­rain woman ad­mit­ted her guilt Oct. 12 in the rob­bery that led to the 2016 death of a Lo­rain man.

Jas­mine A. Schafer, 29, of Lo­rain, is the third per­son to plead out in con­nec­tion to the Aug. 29, 2016, homi­cide of Jim­mie Hol­land.

A sen­tenc­ing date has not been set on the two counts of ag­gra­vated rob­bery, two counts of ag­gra­vated bur­glary and a sin­gle count of bur­glary.

The sen­tenc­ing likely will come af­ter the case of El­liot L. Kirk­land, 29, of Lo­rain, which is sched­uled for Jan­uary 2019.

Kirk­land is fac­ing charges of ag­gra­vated mur­der, two counts of mur­der, two counts of ag­gra­vated rob­bery, two counts of ag­gra­vated bur­glary, two counts of felo­nious as­sault and sin­gle counts of bur­glary, ob­struct­ing jus­tice and weapons un­der dis­abil­ity.

If con­victed, Kirk­land could face the death penalty.

Mark Sanchez, 26, and La­trice Thomas, 38, both of Lo­rain, pleaded guilty Sept. 28 be­fore Lo­rain County Com­mon Pleas Judge James L. Mi­raldi for their parts in the plot.

Sen­tenc­ing dates have not been set for Sanchez and Thomas.
