Avon Lake Schools issue would continue excellence
To my fellow Avon Lake community members,
I am writing this letter with strong support for Issue 4 on the Avon Lake City ballot for Nov. 6, 2018.
This issue is for a substitute levy combining three existing levies to continue the excellent services provided by the Avon Lake City Schools. The three emergency levies have been brought to the ballot over the last 15 years.
This would NOT increase taxes for existing homeowners. However, without the support the district would lose millions of dollars needed to maintain our Excellent school system!
By combining the three existing levies our school district can have a stable local tax income, which will allow the district to maintain current staff, provide buses to the students, introduce up to date technology and sustain rigorous curriculum for the students.
I have worked over the last six years alongside the teachers, administration and other parents in the PTA. I am proud of our collaboration which has allowed us to provide great things for our schools, like a new playground, state-of-theart technology and extra supplies the school needed.
My husband and I have been very impressed by all of the services provided by the Avon Lake City schools.
Our three children have flourished academically, as well as socially while attending Eastview Elementary.
As a trained educator myself I have witnessed teachers using best practices to meet the needs of our children and their varied academic needs. In addition, the Leaps program at Redwood, where one of our sons attended as a pre-schooler, was a great beginning school experience.
Our sixth-grader at Troy continues to learn to be a great student, is challenged to think independently, and is learning to not just master information but think critically. The Avon Lake City Schools have provided support, encouragement, challenges and a path toward success!
We support Avon Lake City Schools and Issue 4 will continue the excellence we experience today and for the future!
