Po­lice and court briefs Troop­ers seize 510 pounds of mar­i­juana

A Cal­i­for­nia woman is fac­ing charges af­ter Ohio High­way Pa­trol troop­ers seized 510 pounds of mar­i­juana in a Nov. 5 traf­fic stop in Olm­sted Falls, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease.

At 1:20 p.m. troop­ers stopped a 2018 Penske Truck with In­di­ana regis­tra­tion for speed and marked lanes vi­o­la­tions on the Ohio Turn­pike.

Crim­i­nal in­di­ca­tors were ob­served and a drugsniff­ing ca­nine alerted to the ve­hi­cle, ac­cord­ing to the re­lease.

A prob­a­ble cause search re­vealed the con­tra­band.

The driver, Keryl J. Lopez, 48 of McKin­leyville, Cal­i­for­nia, is fac­ing sin­gle felony counts of pos­ses­sion and traf­fick­ing in mar­i­juana. She is be­ing held in the Strongsville City Jail.

If con­victed, she could face up to 22 years in prison and up to a $40,000 fine.
