Po­lice: Man con­fesses to killing girl­friend

Men­tor po­lice ar­rested a 38-year-old city man who ad­mit­ted to killing his girl­friend.

Men­tor po­lice ar­rested a 38-year-old city man who ad­mit­ted to killing his girl­friend.

Ac­cord­ing to Men­tor po­lice, the de­part­ment re­sponded to 8347 South Villa Ma­rina Court at 2:27 a.m. May 17 af­ter the man called the de­part­ment, telling them he had just killed the woman.

The man im­me­di­ately sur­ren­dered to po­lice af­ter they ar­rived on scene.

Po­lice said the 35-year-old vic­tim — who resided with the sus­pect — had been as­saulted and stabbed with a knife dur­ing a do­mes­tic dis­tur­bance.

The Lake County coroner had the vic­tim taken to the Cuya­hoga County Med­i­cal Ex­am­iner’s Of­fice for an au­topsy. The Lake County Crime Lab­o­ra­tory as­sisted Men­tor po­lice de­tec­tives in pro­cess­ing the crime scene.

The sus­pect is be­ing ar­raigned at 8 a.m. May 18 in Men­tor Mu­nic­i­pal Court. The names of the sus­pect and vic­tim will be re­leased at that time, po­lice said.
