MEN ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES
Authorities said two men were arrested Friday after police discovered a substantial amount of drugs including cocaine and cash inside an apartment on Bank Street.
Police said the investigation began weeks earlier based on complaints about drug activity in the area. Chevalier Terrell Purvis, of Waterbury, fled to the rear of the apartment when police began their search late Thursday. He then attempted to swallow a significant amount of cocaine, authorities said.
Purvis, along with city resident Christopher Maloney, were arrested on numerous drug charges including possession of narcotics and possession with intent to sell. Both were held on $100,000 bonds pending their arraignments.
