Po­lice chased a re­port­edly armed sus­pect through down­town streets af­ter a dis­agree­ment be­tween a pros­ti­tute and her client.

Po­lice were called to the area of Frankin Street — less than a block from the po­lice sta­tion — on a re­port of a street rob­bery with a gun. The woman, later iden­ti­fied as Karen San­toro, said she was robbed at gun­point and that the sus­pect fled.

Po­lice chased the man, who was iden­ti­fied as Edwin Ramirez, on foot through the neigh­bor­hood be­fore ap­pre­hend­ing the sus­pect. He didn’t have a weapon with him at the time, po­lice said.

Af­ter fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion, po­lice said they dis­cov­ered San­toro of­fered to have sex with Ramirez for an undis­closed amount of money.

Ramirez later “re­neged on the agree­ment,” po­lice said, and took his money back. That’s when San­toro called po­lice to re­port a rob­bery.

Both Ramirez and San­toro were ar­rested. Ramirez was charged with pa­tron­iz­ing a pros­ti­tute and in­ter­fer­ing with a po­lice of­fi­cer while San­toro was charged with pros­ti­tu­tion and false re­port­ing of a crime.

Both were re­leased from po­lice cus­tody on writ­ten prom­ises to ap­pear in court.
