The town has earned the best bond rating possible from a financial firm.

Standard & Poor’s reaffirmed the town’s AAA bond rating, citing the town’s strong liquidity, fiscal management, budget performance and more, First Selectman Steve Dunn said at this week’s Board of Selectmen’s meeting.

This will enable the town to receive lower interests rates when it borrows money.

“That is really good news given the things we’re looking to do,” Dunn said.

Another rating agency, Moody’s Investor Services maintained the town’s Aa2 rating earlier this year.
