Appreciative library project can go forward

The News-Times - - OPINION -

It is with extreme pleasure that I write this letter of appreciation to the people of New Milford.

Your support of the modernization and renovation project enables us now to move forward with a project that was long overdue. Our last renovation was an addition in 1977 to the original and elegant library built in 1898.

The renovation will include, among other things, a dedicated teen area, a larger children’s area and ADA accessibility. It will truly meet the needs of all the citizens of our beautiful town and will continue to be the center for life-long learning.

Thank you to everyone involved in this wonderful outcome: Mayor Bass and the Town Council, the New Milford Public Library Board of Trustees, the Director and her amazing staff, the FRIENDS of NMPL, the town-appointed Modernization Committee and, of course, the citizens of New Milford.

All of us look forward to the day we will open the doors and celebrate a new beginning of an institution that has been in operation since 1898.

Joanne M. Lillis President, NMPL Board of Trustees
