The Westport Li­brary’s 26th an­nual Sum­mer Book Sale takes place Satur­day through Tues­day. Be­cause of on­go­ing con­struc­tion at the li­brary, the sale will take place ex­clu­sively out­side the build­ing on Je­sup Green.

The sale will fea­ture thou­sands of deeply dis­counted books and other items in over 70 cat­e­gories, in­clud­ing art, chil­dren’s, ed­u­ca­tion, graphic nov­els, fic­tion, for­eign lan­guage, gar­den­ing, health, his­tory, home, hu­mor, law, lit­er­a­ture, maker-hand­crafts, mu­sic, mys­tery, na­ture, per­form­ing arts, pho­tog­ra­phy, po­etry, re­li­gion, sci­ence, sports and travel. DVDs, CDs, vinyl and au­dio­books also will be avail­able.

This year’s sale also will fea­ture a num­ber of rare finds, in­clud­ing a signed first edition in a first state dust jacket of John Stein­beck’s “The Pearl” and Jean-Michel Basquiat’s 1985 Zurich ex­hi­bi­tion cat­a­log, two of 100 proof copies, signed by the artist.

The sale takes place Satur­day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Mon­day, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., ev­ery­thing is half price and on Tues­day, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the li­brary is tak­ing do­na­tion with a sug­gested con­tri­bu­tion of $5 per bag.

This year’s sale will once again co­in­cide with the town’s 45th an­nual Fine Arts Fes­ti­val, a na­tion­ally ranked top 30 art show fea­tur­ing 175 booths of ju­ried artists in 11 cat­e­gories, cre­ated by the Westport Down­town Mer­chants As­so­ci­a­tion.

Book Sale vol­un­teers Pra­gathi Ashok and Ni­cole Mayr pre­pare for the Westport Li­brary 26th an­nual Sum­mer Book Sale on Wed­nes­day. The sale from July 14 through the 17 will fea­ture more than 70,000 deeply dis­counted items in over 70 cat­e­gories from A-Z.
