Edward Gutkowski

Edward Gutkowski, 89, of Norwalk, died on Thurs­day, Nov. 8, at Norwalk Hospi­tal. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, he was the hus­band of the late Cather­ine (Spuck) Gutkowski. He was also pre­de­ceased by their son, Michael. Edward had served as a Sergeant in the U.S.Marine Corps and was awarded the Pur­ple Heart af­ter be­ing wounded in ac­tion in Korea. He was a busi­ness agent for the Car­pen­ter’s Union, Lo­cal # 210. An avid fish­er­man and mem­ber of the Marine Corps League, he en­joyed the Norwalk Se­nior Cen­ter af­ter his re­tire­ment.

Ed is sur­vived by his chil­dren, Sandi (Stephen) Bod­nar of New­town, Ed­die Gutkowski of Norwalk and Su­san Ryder of Golden, CO, and grand­son Thomas Estes and great-grand­daugh­ter Ai­den Usher, as well as grand­chil­dren Christo­pher (Amanda) Bod­nar and Stephanie (David) Loewen­thal, and 6 great­grand­chil­dren.

His fam­ily will re­ceive friends on Mon­day, Nov. 12 from 3-6 p.m. at the Mag­ner Fu­neral Home, with a prayer ser­vice be­gin­ning at 5:30 p.m. Other ser­vices will be held pri­vately by his fam­ily.
