Fair Oaks Welcomes Ag Day Presenters, Visitors
From the furry friends to the smooth eggs on display, the chance to twirl a rope and do some dummy roping to getting an up close and personal look at farm animals, students at Fair Oaks Elementary School enjoyed their annual Ag Day on Friday.
Presentations ranged from being a farrier – who shoes horses – to agricultural industry jobs, with students learning about the wide variety of career opportunities available in the field.
Here are a few photos from the event.
Youngsters twirl their ropes overhead, getting ready to lasso the ‘dummy’ sawhorse, trying their hand at the tricky task.
Students in Ms. Oliveira’s kindergarten class look at some freshly laid eggs, with assistance from a presenter from the Agricultural Commissioner’s office.
River Oaks 4-H member and young equestrian Gabrielle Lawless speaks to students about riding and caring for horses.
This young cow – identified only by the tag No. 4385 – seemed a little more interested in catching a quick nap than greeting elementary students.
